Effective January 4th, 2021, Moule's California Glass, Inc. in Redding will scale down our automotive glass replacement appointments to chip repairs & supply of parts only. We will not be accepting new appointments for windshield or door glass replacements on automotive vehicles.
We did not make this decision lightly. It has always been our mission to provide superior customer service while offering quality products at a fair price. With the automotive market making tremendous gains it the technology department, it has come at a large price for auto glass shops choosing to offer windshield replacements. We have always strived to bring you the best products. Unfortunately, contracting with insurance companies has put limitations on the products we are allowed to replace, and the prices we are allowed to bill for.
Many new vehicles come equipped with safety sensors like collision alerts and blind spot monitoring, and require a recalibration to be performed by the corresponding dealership after the windshield replacement is done. Most dealerships will only calibrate windshields that are OEM (original equipment manufacturer) otherwise known as "dealer" glass. Most insurance companies will not cover the cost of the OEM glass, and in some cases, the cost of the calibration making the customer pay the difference out of pocket. The equipment to perform in shop calibrations is expensive and the liability is too large. Your safety matters most. We feel it would be a disservice to you, our valued client if we are unable to provide the full calibration service in shop or having to use inferior products.
Please be sure to check with any repair shop to confirm you are getting OEM glass for your replacements and that you calibration is done by a trained technician authorized to calibrate your vehicles sensors.
